Andrew Whyman - Engineering The New Jaguar XF

  • Date
    14th January 2008
  • Place
Chemistry Research Laboratory (CRL), South Parks Rd, Oxford, OX13TA

Andy is the Vehicle Engineering Manager for the XF Project at Jaguar Cars. He holds a Cambridge MA in Engineering, an MBA, and has worked at Jaguar for over 15 years. For most of that time he was working on powertrain engineering (e.g. AJV6 & AJV8) but for the last few years on Vehicle Engineering.

Andy has been part of the XF Programme Team since the initial concept feasibility phases. The programme is ground-breaking in many aspects of the engineering processes, making it possible for the main prototypes to be built on the assembly line for the first time.

Jaguar XF Exterior view Much praise has been lavished in the motoring press on the new Jaguar XF. Much has also been written about the importance of this car to Jaguar. Andy is the man who has had to take this car from concept to reality. Engineering to tame the laws of physics, whilst complying with international legislation and giving you a nice ride.

Jaguar XF Interior view W heard not only about the engineering process, but a bit about the car itself, particularly new features such as the Jaguar Drive Selector. Andy came in an XF to give us a chance to see the car in the flesh.
